Ледоколы «Ленинград» и «Сталинград» могут обойтись дороже на 30% от текущей стоимости

USC and Rosatom are discussing a revision of prices for the construction of two nuclear icebreakers

The Baltic Shipyard of the United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC) intends to receive additional funding from the customer for the fifth and sixth serial nuclear icebreakers "Leningrad" and "Stalingrad" of Project 22220, taking into account the revision of prices under the contracts. This follows from the shipyard's financial report for 2024.

Thus, the vessels may become up to 30% more expensive than the current cost. Additional funds will also be required to complete the construction of the multifunctional nuclear technology service vessel (MSATO) of Project 22770.

Funding is necessary to "prevent a deficit" of cash flows from operating activities, according to the Baltic Shipyard's report.

The icebreaker "Leningrad" was laid down at the Baltic Shipyard in January 2024 and was scheduled to be delivered in December 2028. The keel-laying of "Stalingrad" is scheduled for 2025, with delivery in December 2030.

The construction of a series of universal nuclear icebreakers of Project 22220 is being carried out by order of FSUE Atomflot (part of the Rosatom State Corporation).
