Scammers use various tricks to make their victims call an unknown number. Then they keep the person on the line until a large sum is debited from the victim's account. This was warned by the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
A person receives a message asking them to call the specified mobile phone number. The reason for this request can be anything: helping a friend, changing communication tariffs, problems with communication or with your bank card, and so on.
After the victim calls back, they are kept on the line for a long time. As a result, it turns out that large sums have been debited from the account.
Law enforcement officers reported that there are services that provide telephone services for which a fee is charged. Usually, such services offer entertainment services, and the call fee is additional. The advertising materials of such services always indicate that the call is paid.
Scammers register such a service and distribute the number without warning about the call charge.
Earlier www1.ru warned that scammers had come up with a new way of deception: they send emails with malicious attachments in the form of archives that contain phishing links. Over the past month and a half, attackers have sent more than 880 thousand such letters.
