Yandex is preparing for mass production of a new generation of robot couriers that will be more efficient. A company representative announced this during an online call dedicated to the company's financial results for 2024.
A Yandex representative noted that the company continues to invest in rovers and sees a "significant result."
Thus, the cost of delivery by robot couriers, which you so often see on the streets of Moscow, has almost equaled the cost of delivery by human couriers.
The robot deliveryman was created to transport small cargo. It is completely autonomous: it plans its own route, assesses the situation around it, and bypasses obstacles.
The robot is capable of traveling on city sidewalks at a speed of 5-8 km/h, can work both in summer and winter, and fulfill orders in various weather conditions. Yandex launched rovers in 2019.
