Israeli company Rafael and Indian industrial conglomerate Larsen&Toubro have signed a memorandum to promote the Trophy active protection system for the needs of the Indian Ministry of Defense. This is reported by Bulgarian Military.
Trophy protects armored vehicles from anti-tank missiles. It can be installed on Arjun, T-72 and T-90S tanks, which India purchased from Russia.
The Indian Ministry of Defense has about 1200 T-90S tanks and 2500 T-72 tanks in service.
Characteristics of the T-90S tank:
- Crew — 3 people
- Weight — 46.5 tons
- Engine — 1000 hp
- Power density — 21.5 hp/t
- Maximum road speed — 60 km/h
- Cruising range — 550 km
In 2020, the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation of Russia stated that India would purchase 400 T-90S tanks. These combat vehicles are produced in India under license.
