AvtoVAZ will start selling Lada cars in Iran. Initially, only one model will be available — Lada Vesta. The official distributor of Russian cars will be Nika Motor, which has already completed the certification process for the car for the Iranian market.
The Lada Vesta cars that will be sold in Iran have been granted a vehicle type approval (OTTS), similar to the Russian one. Iranians will be offered two body styles: a sedan and a cross-version of the station wagon.
Both variants will be equipped with a 1.8-liter 16-valve naturally aspirated engine with a capacity of 122 horsepower. It will be paired with a CVT.
Work on the certification of Lada Vesta in Iran began in September last year. AvtoVAZ reached an agreement with the Iranian side earlier, but the process was complicated by the lack of some options, including, possibly, a stabilization system.
Iranian journalists wrote that the missing equipment was installed on the Lada thanks to Chinese partners. The possibility of organizing small-scale assembly in the Middle East was also considered.
Earlier, AvtoVAZ announced an update to the configurations of Vesta cars in various modifications. This statement explained why the price lists of the family opposite some configurations of the 2024 model year showed the note "not produced", including all versions of Vesta Cross.
