Moscow plans to install almost 2 thousand new ticket vending machines with face recognition systems in the metro by 2030. The capital's authorities will spend more than 4 billion rubles on these purposes.
Production will be organized in Technopolis Moscow. Full localization may be difficult due to the lack of necessary components in Russia.
The new machines will be equipped with cameras for face recognition and will operate on the "Astra Linux" operating system. Deliveries will begin in 2025, and the cost of the machines ranges from 1.2 to 2.6 million rubles, depending on the configuration.
Experts note that upgrading outdated models may be more expensive than buying new ones. The Russian government plans to expand biometric payment in other regions, although the implementation of such projects may face financial and technical difficulties.
