The enterprise "Satellite System Gonets" (part of Roscosmos) will develop satellite technologies for domestic unmanned aerial vehicles. A strategic partnership agreement was signed by the Roscosmos enterprise and the Scientific and Production Center for Unmanned Aviation Systems (SPC UAS) from the Tomsk region.
Within the framework of the concluded agreement, we will work out the use of existing and promising subscriber equipment of the Gonets mobile satellite communication system on drones.
According to him, the use of satellite technologies in UAVs has enormous potential. Manoylo said that hybrid control allows using the satellite channel as a backup, and when leaving the zone of ground-based facilities - as the main one. He explained that this will reduce the risk of losing the UAV.
We can receive data from the payload installed on the drone, even if it is hundreds or thousands of kilometers away from the operator.
The technology of controlling a drone using a satellite was first implemented in July 2024 as part of an experiment by the "Satellite System Gonets" and the company "Geoscan". Then, data on the location and telemetry of the UAV were successfully transmitted to the Gonets data processing center.
