In 2024, Belarus adopted 24 items, including the Buk-MB2 anti-aircraft missile system (SAM) (a modification of the Soviet Buk SAM system). This was announced by Dmitry Pantus, Chairman of the State Military-Industrial Committee of Belarus.
According to Pantus, Belarus has increased its arms exports. However, he called the strengthening and equipping of its own army with new weapons the main event of 2024.
A key milestone, perhaps, was the issue of putting into service the Buk anti-aircraft missile system (Buk-MB2) and a domestic missile for this system (SAM 9M318), the Sapphire grenade launcher system. 24 items were put into service with our Armed Forces in 2024.
According to the State Military-Industrial Committee, the air defense system includes a self-propelled firing unit. Its purpose is to detect, identify, recognize the class of targets (air, ground, surface), capture, track and engage targets, as well as control missile launches from the launching charging unit.
The Buk-MB2 air defense system also received a new anti-aircraft guided missile (SAM) 9M318.
The missile makes it possible to significantly expand the kill zone of the Buk-MB2 air defense system to 70 km and the range of engaged air targets from stealth aircraft with a small radar cross-section (RCS) to tactical ballistic missiles.
