In 2024, Belarus adopted 24 items, including the Buk-MB2 anti-aircraft missile system (SAM) (a modification of the Soviet Buk SAM system. This was announced by Dmitry Pantus, Chairman of the State Military-Industrial Committee of Belarus.
According to Pantus, Belarus has increased its arms exports. However, he called the strengthening and equipping of its own army with new weapons the main event of 2024.
A key milestone, perhaps, was the issue of putting into service the Buk anti-aircraft missile system («Бук-МБ2») and a domestic missile for this complex (ЗУР 9М318), the Sapphire grenade launcher complex. 24 items were supplied to our Armed Forces in 2024.
According to the State Military-Industrial Committee, the SAM system includes a self-propelled firing unit. Its purpose is to detect, identify, recognize the class of targets (air, ground, surface), capture, track and fire at targets, as well as control missile launches from the launching charging unit.
The Buk-MB2 SAM system also received a new 9M318 anti-aircraft guided missile (SAM).
The missile makes it possible to significantly expand the engagement zone of the Buk-MB2 SAM system to 70 km and the range of engaged air targets from stealth aircraft with a small radar cross-section (RCS) to tactical ballistic missiles.
