A base station for creating a swarm of satellites may appear on the ROS

Such a station will be able to store and quickly deploy small satellites

A base station for forming a "swarm" of small controlled satellites may be located on the prospective Russian Orbital Station (ROS).

The concept of such a station was presented by the General Designer of the Russian Federation for Manned Space Systems and Complexes, General Designer of RSC Energia, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Vladimir Solovyov.

According to a joint presentation by Solovyov and Viktor Khartov, General Designer of Automatic Spacecraft, the base station as part of the ROS will be designed for storing and quickly deploying small satellites. It will also provide the ability to repair, upgrade and maintain spacecraft directly in orbit.

Earlier www1.ru reported that Russia has determined the timing for the creation of its own orbital station.
