The gun is a 2S31 "Vena" combat module on a DT-30PM "Vityaz" chassis

On Saturday, January 25, a rare 120-mm self-propelled artillery gun (SPG) "Magnolia" was involved in an accident. The footage appeared on social networks.

In the video, you can see that the gun drove off the trailer and into a fence on a turn. The self-propelled gun is a combat module from the 2S31 "Vena" mounted on the chassis of a DT-30PM "Vityaz" armored two-section tracked all-terrain vehicle. In August 2022, the Uralvagonzavod concern (part of Rostec) announced the start of serial production of "Magnolia", but since then there has been no information on fresh deliveries of these artillery guns to units of the Russian Armed Forces.

The self-propelled artillery gun was developed by specialists from JSC Central Research Institute "Burevestnik". "Magnolia" is designed to engage a wide variety of enemy targets, from armored vehicles and manpower to fortifications.

  • Firing range with high-explosive fragmentation projectiles - 8.5 km
  • Ammunition load - 80 shells
  • Crew - 4 people
