Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko announced the start of development of a national cryptocurrency. According to him, the project is in its initial stage, but work will proceed quickly.
Representatives of the IT sector have proposed to the Belarusian government to actively develop cryptocurrency and artificial intelligence. Lukashenko said that the corresponding task has already been set for specialists and the government.
In Belarus, we are engaged in creating a cryptocurrency. But this is, again, still a closed topic.
According to him, the country has surplus electricity that can be used for mining.
The President of Belarus also compared the approaches of the United States and China to artificial intelligence, noting that in the United States, AI is used in extensive areas, while China has focused on specific areas, such as defense and healthcare.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that in the fall of 2024, Lukashenko signed a decree prohibiting cryptocurrency transactions outside of national cryptocurrency exchanges. Transactions must be carried out only through residents of the High Technology Park.
