By the beginning of 2026, about half of the bank terminals in Russia will support biometric payment.
Sberbank plans to replace up to 80% of its terminal fleet with new models featuring biometric payment, which will account for about 50% of all bank terminals in the country.
Alfa-Bank is actively implementing biometric payments in 2025 and plans to replace a quarter of its 400,000 terminals with devices supporting this technology.
VTB has been using a solution based on the National Payment Card System (NSPK) since the end of 2024 to implement biometric payment. Almost all new bank terminals will be equipped with this function.
Promsvyazbank, Pochta Bank, and Novikombank have also announced the development of biometric services. The NSPK noted that the share of biometric payments is gradually increasing.
