Rosatom is actively preparing for the physical launch of the under-construction Kursk NPP-2. This was announced in an interview with journalists by Rosatom Director General Alexey Likhachev.
According to him, sanctions and various restrictions encourage the search for solutions to make the country less dependent on the supply of services from abroad.
Work is in full swing, and we are preparing for the physical launch, we have already reached the stage of cold and hot run-in. This also inspires the workforce.
It should be reminded that Kursk NPP-2 is a replacement station, which includes two units with new VVER-TOI reactors (water-water power reactor - typical optimized computerized generation III+) with a capacity of 1,255 MW each. The total installed capacity of the two NPP units under construction will be 2,510 MW. The physical launch of the NPP involves, among other things, loading nuclear fuel into the reactor.
