"AntioncoRAN-M" and "Enteromix": Two Revolutionary Cancer Treatments from Russian Scientists

The "AntioncoRAN-M" drug and "Enteromix" vaccine promise a revolution in cancer treatment

One of the most significant achievements of Russian scientists in 2024 was the creation of two cancer treatments at once.

The first of these is "AntioncoRAN-M"-a gene therapy antitumor drug that works without viruses and is based on a construction of two genes. One of the genes activates the production of toxic substances inside cancer cells, which leads to their destruction, and the second gene stimulates immunity, helping the body fight "rebellious" cells. In the summer of 2024, scientists announced the successful completion of the first phase of clinical trials involving 13 patients aged 30 to 78 years. In addition, the start of the second phase of trials was announced, during which it is planned to evaluate the effectiveness of the drug on 100 volunteers with aggressive tumors.

Russian scientists have also completed preclinical trials of the first domestic cancer vaccine called "Enteromix". This drug is a mixture of four non-pathogenic viruses that can destroy malignant cells and activate the patient's antitumor immunity. The success of tests on model animals made it possible to proceed to clinical trials on humans, which will begin with the participation of 48 volunteers. The trials are expected to be completed in October 2026.
