Moscow Creates Database of Russian Biomedical Data

Biological material was collected confidentially

The Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT) has created a unique database of molecular genetic data of Russian residents. This was reported in the press service of the university.

The project started at the beginning of this year, its goal is to collect biological material for conducting population studies. Confidentiality was observed during the creation of the database.

The accumulation of genetic data allows us to better understand how different genotypes can affect a patient's response to treatment. This will help to more accurately select therapy, which is especially important in oncology, where different subtypes of tumors may require different approaches.

Information is sent to the MIPT genomic center in an encoded form to protect the personal data of participants. Anyone can join the project and submit biomaterial. To do this, it is enough to visit a polyclinic, the medical center of the institute in Dolgoprudny, or the clinical center.

Most of the technologies for the project were developed at MIPT. This made it possible to reduce dependence on the use of foreign consumables.

Earlier, www1.ru reported that in Moscow they developed a program to improve navigation in space.
