Footage of tests of the Arctic modification of the BT-3F tracked armored personnel carrier has appeared online. The 18.9-ton combat vehicle demonstrated high dynamic qualities, achieved thanks to the UTD-29 four-stroke diesel engine with a capacity of 450 hp with liquid cooling.
The BT-3F's speed on the highway is up to 70 km/h, and in reverse — up to 20 km/h. As a chassis base, engineers from Kurganmashzavod and JSC Special Design Bureau of Mechanical Engineering managed to maintain the sufficiently high protection of the BT-3F, characteristic of the BMP-3.
Armor plates are capable of withstanding hits from 25-mm armor-piercing subcaliber M919 projectiles from the M242 gun at a distance of more than 1500 m. The capacity of the troop compartment is 10 people with the possibility of expansion to 14 people in an emergency.
The maximum angle of exit from the water for the BT-3F is 20 degrees, the angle of ascent during obstacle crossing reaches 35 degrees.
In the standard modification, the BT-3F is equipped with a two-plane stabilized remotely controlled 5EC16U-04 platform with a 12.7-mm Kord machine gun. In the modernized version — a paired launcher of the Kornet ATGM with 9M133M-2/FM-2/3 anti-tank multi-purpose missiles.
Earlier www1.ru reported that Gvozdika self-propelled guns and D-30 howitzers will start hitting the enemy even further, they received the latest shells with a range of 19.3 km.
