Yandex is negotiating with leaders of the Russian TV market, as well as Chinese and other foreign manufacturers of this electronics, to install its YaOS operating system. Currently, about 30% of TVs sold in Russia already run on the Yandex OS, but their share will be increased. This is reported by Kommersant, citing sources.
The company confirmed the fact of negotiations to the publication, without specifying with whom they are being conducted. It is noted that YaOS is planned to be installed on all foreign TVs that are currently supplied to Russia.
It is known that among Chinese manufacturers in the Russian market, Chinese Haier and TCL are most often found. According to GFK, they account for about 32% of the market in units.
Also, according to experts, about 30% of the Russian TV market is accounted for by major brands Samsung, LG and Hisense, which have their own operating systems Tizen, WebOS and ViDAA.
In 2025, Yandex will face significant competition in this area from domestic OS manufacturers. Sber is launching its own production of TVs with the "Salyut-TV" OS, which can now be found in about 20% of this type of electronics.
