At the I.N. Ulyanov Chuvash State University, an intelligent sensory station was developed to monitor 20 agrophysical parameters and the phenotype of plants. This was reported by the press service of the university.
The new system provides the possibility of detailed analysis of plant growth parameters (granulometric composition of the soil, lumpiness, air capacity, moisture capacity, meteorological conditions, speed, direction of air flow, humidity and air temperature, atmospheric pressure and precipitation level). The device also monitors the ultraviolet index, light intensity, seeding rate and seed germination, plant height and crop density.
The station was tested on the Thomas pea variety and demonstrated its effectiveness. Data on soil and weather conditions are collected using sensors and allow assessing the favorability of conditions for plant growth.
The development contributes to the optimization of precision farming processes, reduces costs and increases yields. In addition, the system helps in the selection of new varieties.
