The chamber welds titanium pipelines for Russian submarines

The Sevmash plant (part of USC) has created a unique chamber for welding titanium pipelines called "Atmosphere-2." Such pipelines are used on Russian submarines, according to expert Alexey Egorov.

Most of the pipelines of nuclear submarines are made of titanium, which requires special conditions to work with. Thanks to this installation, the plant has the ability to weld structural and pipe assemblies of any complexity.

"Atmosphere-2" is a chamber with a volume of 300 m3, where titanium pipelines are welded in a high-purity argon gas environment. To work in it, you need suits that look like the special clothing of deep-sea divers.

I am holding a high-pressure air pipe. It is this air that ensures the submarine surfaces. It's scary to imagine what will happen if the weld on the pipe bursts. To prevent this from happening, Sevmash came up with a special welding chamber. You can get there through a bulkhead hatch.
