The Russian Navy conducted exercises in the eastern Mediterranean Sea a few days ago, during which carrier ships of the "Zircon" hypersonic complex carried out training and combat launches of the product. A long-range Kalibr cruise missile was also launched from the diesel-electric submarine B-261 "Novorossiysk" of Project 636 "Varshavyanka".
B-261 "Novorossiysk" is a modern diesel-electric submarine of Project 636.3 "Varshavyanka", part of the Russian Black Sea Fleet. Submarines of this project became a development of the Soviet diesel-electric submarines of Project 636.
They feature improved characteristics, modern weaponry, and reduced noise levels. Thanks to the use of the latest technologies and materials, the boat has low noise, which significantly complicates its detection.
