The pulp and paper industry is showing growth in 2024. This was stated by the Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of Russia Oleg Bocharov at the VIII International Conference "Pulp and Paper Industry of Russia - New Realities, New Opportunities".
Thus, from January to October 2024, the volume of shipped goods of the timber industry complex reached 3 trillion rubles. This figure is 22% higher than in the same period last year. According to Bocharov, the shipment of paper and paper products reached 1.3 trillion tons in 10 months of this year. The growth was 22%.
The Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade considers the cooperation between business and the state to be important for the successful development of the timber industry complex. Domestic consumption of goods in this sector increased by almost a quarter and reached 2.68 trillion rubles.
It is worth recalling that the updated draft Strategy for the Development of the Forest Complex was presented in November 2024. The document outlines the indicators of the pulp and paper sub-sector.
