Alexander Migal, Commercial Director of the "Moskvich" plant, expressed concern about the shortage of new cars in the budget segment, the cost of which does not exceed 2 million rubles.
In an interview with journalists, the top manager noted that the main demand is currently concentrated in this price range, but only AvtoVAZ offers new models at this price. Migal did not specify whether the "Moskvich" plant plans to take steps to improve the situation.
The top manager also added that the increase in car prices will primarily affect the budget segment.
As for the mass segment, the main blow will fall there. And Chinese manufacturers will probably have to think about how they are going to sell their ICE models here
Sergey Tselikov, Director of the Avtostat analytical agency, added that in 2020–2021, six inexpensive B-class models — Kia Rio, Hyundai Solaris, Skoda Rapid, Renault Logan and Sandero — accounted for 20% of the market. Although Granta and Vesta partially occupied this niche, the market now lacks affordable, reliable and simple foreign cars that would be in demand by both taxi drivers and ordinary consumers.
