Russian satellite "Ionosphere-M" No. 1 transmitted the first unique scientific data

Checks showed that all devices are functioning normally

The helio-geophysical apparatus "Ionosphere-M" No. 1, launched in November, has transmitted the first data to scientists. This was reported at the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

Checks have demonstrated that all instruments, both for measuring electromagnetic field parameters and for measuring plasma parameters, have successfully survived the launch process and are functioning normally.

From November 29 to December 4, the first activations of the instruments of the target equipment complex were carried out on the helio-geophysical satellite "Ionosphere-M" No. 1.

Two Ionosphere-M satellites were launched on November 5. They are part of the "Ionosond" complex, created to monitor the helio-geophysical environment, observe the ionosphere and the Sun. Scientists intend to use them to monitor the radiation environment and study the distribution of ozone in the upper atmosphere.
