The Department for Organizing the Fight Against Illegal Use of Information and Communication Technologies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia warns of the danger of talking to strangers via video link. Thanks to new technologies, fraudsters, under the guise of sociological surveys, checking the quality of services from mobile operators and other pretexts, gain access to samples of the victim's voice and their video image. Then they can pass biometric identification in the bank instead of the victim and, at a minimum, empty their account. This is how it works.
The subscriber is asked questions – they answer them. The task of fraudsters is to obtain a recording of the subscriber's voice with the keyword "YES". Since some banks have already introduced, and many are only introducing biometric identification of clients when making financial transactions, fraudsters need the face and voice of the subscriber to steal funds from the subscriber's accounts. The "YES" (or other phrases they need) said by the subscriber and recorded by fraudsters can become the subscriber's alleged consent to debit funds during biometric identification.
Cyber police urge Russians to be extremely careful when receiving calls from unknown numbers. If a conversation does happen, then during the conversation you should try not to pronounce "key phrases", do not say "Yes", but it is better to immediately end the dialogue with a stranger.
