Tu-95MSM strategic bomber upgraded: what has changed in the Russian "Bear"

Received the world's most powerful NK-12MPM turboprop aircraft engine

After modernization, the Tu-95MSM strategic bomber received the world's most powerful serial production NK-12MPM turboprop engine and new propellers to increase payload and weapon range. The wings have been reinforced to accommodate new, larger missiles.

The modernization of the "Bear" made it possible to double the combat load and ensured compatibility with the Kh-101/2 cruise missile, which is the main one for the aircraft. The update also included improving the integration of the Tu-95MSM with naval, air and ground assets for joint operations, which allowed the crew to function seamlessly as part of a wider network.

The military aircraft also received powerful defensive systems and electronic warfare equipment. The Tu-95MSM is especially valued for its ability to launch long-range Kh-101 high-precision cruise missiles with their radar evasion, and the updated avionics have further improved the accuracy of attacks and improved mission success rates.

The Kh-101 and its nuclear counterpart, the Kh-102, are among the longest-range cruise missiles in the world, with a range of over 5,000 km. The missiles have demonstrated a previously unknown ability to launch false targets to evade enemy air defense systems.

Earlier www1.ru reported that some T-90M "Proryv" tanks have lost the key UUI-1 device for a full-fledged battle.
