One of the project's goals is to create more affordable, reliable, convenient, and practical commercial transport

Yandex has unveiled a new project called "Electro," aimed at creating and producing electric transport, charging stations, and energy storage systems. This was announced by the head of Yandex Delivery, Tembot Kerefov, on his LinkedIn account.

Kerefov did not disclose details about the new direction but provided a link to the website, which lists 26 vacancies. Among them are positions for a lead designer of light commercial electric vehicles, head of charging infrastructure, intern, junior design engineer, and embedded software programmer.

One of the project's goals is to create "more affordable, reliable, comfortable, and functional commercial transport." The job description for the design engineer mentions, in particular, electric vehicles and electric scooters.

The company's specialists will develop and control all aspects of the project, from forming the overall idea and designing power plants to creating software for batteries, assembling components, and maintaining charging stations.

The website also notes that "Yandex Electro" is developing solutions for both individuals and organizations.

We are exploring the possibilities of electric transport in the field of logistics.

As a reminder, Yandex continues to develop its delivery services "Eda" and "Lavka." Now, couriers can use electric bicycles created by the company. The transport was developed taking into account the wishes of the couriers themselves. The model has a reinforced kickstand, and the shock absorbers have become more durable and softer. This allows the bicycle to be used even at low temperatures down to -30 degrees.
