The most realistic direction for their escort is the further evolution of Project 22350. The analyst recalled that with an increase in displacement to 8 thousand tons, the Admiral Gorshkov-type frigate is transformed into a modern multi-purpose destroyer.
If it grows to 9-10 thousand tons, then it will already be a light cruiser. And if you put a nuclear power plant on it, you get a personal bodyguard for some hypothetical promising aircraft carrier or an excellent leader of a ship strike group.
