No Longer "Oreshnik," but a Whole "Cedar": What is Known About the New Mobile Missile System of the Russian Army

Will replace the "Yars" complexes currently in service with the Strategic Missile Forces

The newest intercontinental ballistic missile "Cedar" is under development by Russian engineers. Sources in the defense industry reported that development was planned to begin around 2023-2024.

It was planned that the solid-propellant "Cedar" missiles would replace the "Yars" complexes in service with the Strategic Missile Forces (RVSN) by 2030. The new ICBMs, like the "Yars," will be both stationary (silo-based) and mobile.

Currently, the "Topol," "Topol-M," and "Yars" are in the combat composition of the Strategic Missile Forces. The nuclear strategic submarines of projects 955 and 955A "Borei" are armed with "Bulava" missiles. Re-equipment is underway for the promising hypersonic complexes of stationary basing "Avangard," which have improved indicators for overcoming missile defense.

Earlier, www1.ru reported that the newest self-propelled gun "Malva" has been taught to hit several targets simultaneously in a fire raid.
