Interceptor speed — 50 m/s

The first footage of tests of the latest Russian portable anti-aircraft missile system "Molot" with a thermal imaging homing head has appeared. The system includes a reusable launch tube and a "Molot" unmanned interceptor.

The interceptor is equipped with a thermal imaging intelligent guidance system that allows it to track and destroy the target after it is captured by the operator in automatic mode. "Molot" can eliminate enemy UAVs either through the use of a high-explosive fragmentation warhead or by impact.

The interceptor's speed is 50 m/s, that is, 180 km/h. The range of destruction of large aircraft-type UAVs is up to 1 km, small drones with a wingspan of 30-70 cm — up to 350 meters.

During the tests, "Molot" successfully shot down a target flying at an altitude of 200 meters at a speed of 80 km/h. A quadcopter acted as a training target. From the moment "Molot" was launched until the target was eliminated, it took just over 5 seconds, the interceptor shot down the enemy drone with a strike.

Earlier www1.ru reported that an expert found a radical solution to the problem of the shortage of AWACS aircraft for the Russian Aerospace Forces, he proposed reviving the Yak-44.
