AvtoVAZ will not install an automatic transmission (AT) on the LADA Niva model, despite the technical feasibility.
Company President Maxim Sokolov stated that there are no plans to equip the SUV with an automatic transmission, as AvtoVAZ believes that such an option will not be in demand among buyers.
Although the addition of an automatic transmission is technically possible, the company concluded that demand for this option would be limited. Currently, the LADA Niva family includes the Legend and Travel models, which, according to the Avtostat analytical agency, ranked 7th and 8th among the best-selling passenger cars in Russia in October 2024.
