"Significant Increment": Head of Kalashnikov Concern Names Advantages of Lotus Self-Propelled Gun

Self-propelled gun will enter service to replace the 2S9 Nona self-propelled gun

The Lotus self-propelled artillery gun (SAO), after testing in combat operations, has been sent for state trials. It is expected to replace the 2S9 Nona SAO. The combat vehicle has been modernized, said Alan Lushnikov, head of the Kalashnikov concern.

The key parameters of the Lotus exceed those of its predecessor. Automated fire control system, different, voluminous ammunition, automated ammunition rack - these things are still relevant.

It is known that engineers plan to introduce anti-drone protection into the Lotus SAO.

According to Mikhail Ludanny, director of the Central Research Institute for Precision Machine Engineering (TsNIITochMash, developer of the Lotus), the combat vehicle has become more maneuverable and buoyant. He called the Lotus SAO "an alloy of the latest achievements" of military equipment.

The self-propelled gun can fire from closed positions, direct and semi-direct fire. It is equipped with advanced sighting devices. In the future, the Lotus SAO will receive long-range ammunition.

The gun will be a significant increment for the effective performance of tasks
