Russian military forces have begun using "Parody"-type decoy drones. They are designed to divert the attention of the enemy's air defense. These UAVs carry 3D-printed spheres known as Luneburg lenses. On radars, they create a signature similar to that of the well-known Geran kamikaze drones.
This makes it possible to mislead the enemy's air defense, forcing it to expend valuable ammunition on non-target objects.
The drones are made of lightweight materials such as styrofoam and plywood, and have a very low production cost. Their main purpose is to divert the attention of air defense systems and mobile fire groups that respond to threats from the air. The "Parody" does not carry explosives or other combat charges and is intended solely to deceive detection systems.
Earlier www1.ru reported that the cruiser Admiral Nakhimov will be armed with four Pantsir-M SAMs, Zircons and Kalibrs after leaving the repair yard.
