The General Director of the Mosfilm film studio, Karen Shakhnazarov, at a meeting with Russian President Putin, reported the transfer of 28 T-55 tanks, eight PT-76 tanks, eight tractors and six infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs) to the Russian military.
In 2023, we transferred 28 T-55 tanks, six IFVs, eight PT-76 tanks and eight tractors to the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. They were stored at our military-technical base. I learned that there were needs, contacted the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation - they took these vehicles.
The military values the "fifty-fifth" tanks for their rifled 100-mm D-10T2S gun. It is capable of hitting enemy targets from closed firing positions at a distance of up to 15,000 meters. Judging by information from open sources, they are mainly used as self-propelled artillery units.
Photos of such tanks with mounted "Kontakt-1" dynamic protection and anti-drone "barbecue grills" have also appeared on the Web.
