The components of the Soyuz rocket for launching the Aist-2T spacecraft have arrived at the Vostochny Cosmodrome. This was reported by the Roscosmos press service.
Specialists are already preparing to unload them at the technical complex block warehouse. Aist-2T is an Earth remote sensing satellite; a demonstration version of the spacecraft, Aist-2D, was launched from Vostochny in 2016.
The new Aist-2T differs from the 2D modification by the presence of two side pockets, which house stereoscopes for viewing "three-dimensional" images. Thus, the main task of the Aists will be to form a stereoscopic three-dimensional model of the Earth's surface.
Aist-2T will be able to photograph the planet's surface with a pixel projection of 1.2 m in panchromatic shooting mode and a swath of 32 km, create digital terrain models and monitor emergency situations.
At the same time, the estimated daily performance of the complex will be 2 million square km in survey mode and 800 thousand km² in stereo mode.
