GLONASS guidance for dummies: expert explains the uniqueness of the "Grom-M1" aerial bombs for Russian fighters

Analyst Damantsev: the range of application will be up to 130 km

The Russian Aerospace Forces began using the 9-A-7759 "Grom-1" gliding guided active-rocket aerial bombs with bottom gas generators, as well as their gliding counterparts without bottom boost gas generators, the 9-A2-7759 "Grom-2" with a tandem combined warhead.

According to him, both modifications of gliding UABs can be used both from any flight levels up to 17-20 km, and in cabriering mode.

"Grom-1", when launched at an altitude of 10 km at a speed of 1050 km/h, thanks to the additional impulse of the bottom boost gas generator, has a range of up to 120 - 130 km, with cabriering from a low-altitude mode - 27-35 km.
Evgeny Damantsev, military expert

"Grom-2" has a range when dropped from 10 km at a speed of 1050 km/h up to 60 km, from low-altitude cabriering - 15 - 18 km.

Both modifications of the product have a combined guidance system based on INS with accelerometers, GLONASS/GPS correction modules, as well as active radar homing heads of the X-band, the radar architecture of which is similar to that of the "Gran-K" type ARGSN, placed on Kh-35U multi-purpose tactical missiles.

Earlier www1.ru reported that the Su-57 fighter received a device for launching four types of missiles at once. We are talking about the AKU-58U aircraft catapult.
