Из Google Play удалили семь приложений для просмотра российских каналов

This was done at the request of Lithuania

The American multinational corporation Google has removed programs from the official application store that allow you to watch Russian channels. This is how the company reacted to a request from the Lithuanian authorities: the broadcasting and television commission.

Lithuania reminded Google of the European Union sanctions that restrict the broadcasting of Russian media. The media giant has already removed seven such applications.

The commission plans to continue cooperation with Google to ensure compliance with EU sanctions and prevent the spread of prohibited content. According to the Lithuanian authorities, this content includes the broadcasting of Russian television channels.

As a reminder, in June, the authorities of this Baltic country extended the ban on the retransmission of Russian and Belarusian channels. It is emphasized that these states pose a danger and a threat to the national security of Lithuania. Viewing Russian and Belarusian channels in Lithuania has been prohibited since September 2023.
