В Томске разработали отечественные многоразовые накопители водорода

Their cost is three times lower than foreign counterparts

Metal hydride hydrogen storage devices made of iron and titanium have been created at Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU). This was reported by the university's press service.

The new storage devices allow hydrogen to be sorbed and desorbed for several thousand cycles. The loss of efficiency in the process is only 5-10%.

A lanthanum and nickel alloy (LaNi5) is one of the most studied metal hydrides in the world for hydrogen storage, widely used, and, at the same time, one of the most expensive. With it, we managed to create a safe hydrogen storage system that does not require high temperatures and pressure.

It is worth noting that previously the raw materials for this alloy were purchased abroad. Scientists managed to create not only a domestic laboratory hydrogen storage unit with storage devices made of titanium and iron alloy, but also the alloy itself.

The cost of the new storage device is three times lower than foreign counterparts.

Earlier www1.ru reported that Rosatom plans to transition to a completely unmanned automated production of VVER fifth generation fuel.
