A rare BTR-90 "Rostok" armored personnel carrier has been spotted on the front line. The vehicle has a raised roof above the engine-transmission compartment and an open side hatch.
"Rostok" is unified with the BMP-2 in terms of equipment. The armament includes the "Konkurs-M" anti-tank guided missile system with improved tank engagement characteristics, a 30-mm 2A42 automatic cannon, and a 7.62-mm PKT machine gun.
A 30-mm AGS-17 "Plamya" grenade launcher was also installed for effective combat against enemy infantry, and there was a version with the "Berezhok" combat module. A great advantage of the BTR-90 is its enhanced protection, including mine protection, as well as the ability to turn on the spot "tank-style."
Engine power - 510 hp, range - 800 km. Maximum speed on the highway - 100 km/h and 12 km/h afloat. Capacity - ten servicemen. It was previously planned to produce a whole family of various equipment based on "Rostok", including a self-propelled artillery unit.
Earlier, the Russian Ministry of Defense explained the principle of operation of the UR-77 "Meteorit" mine clearance vehicle. At the same time, the military began to use it to strike at enemy positions.
