The first video of objective control of the flight segment of the Russian modernized "Geran-2" kamikaze UAV at an altitude of about 270 - 350 m has appeared online. The landscape is monitored by a short-focus optical system or a TV sensor based on CMOS.
The video image is transmitted to the combat control point via a 4G modem, gradually interfacing with the base stations of mobile operators. In this regard, the data transfer rate can significantly drop, leading to a decrease in the frame rate per second.
It is likely that the optoelectronic module is also equipped with a thermal imaging MWIR sensor, providing detection of heat-contrast targets en route at night, noted military expert Evgeny Damantsev. Thus, this version of the "Geran-2" can be used for conducting optoelectronic reconnaissance.
Characteristics of the "Geran-2" UAV:
- Wingspan — 2.5 m
- Length — 3.5 m
- Weight — 200 kg
- Flight range — 2000 km
- Speed — 180 km/h
- Warhead — 50 kg
Earlier www1.ru reported that Russian soldiers have learned to effectively destroy the enemy's heavy "Baba Yaga" drones. They ram them with FPV drones.
