From January to September 2024, the volume of public government procurement of office software, as well as Russian-developed operating systems (OS), increased by 31.2% to 2.3 billion rubles compared to the same period in 2023, Tenderplan reported.
The number of tenders increased by 45.3% to 805 compared to 9 months of 2023. The Ministry of Digital Development of the Russian Federation did not comment on this trend.
It is known that some companies purchased Astra Linux and RED OS. The Astra Group (developer of Astra Linux) stated that sales in the fourth quarter of the year are usually the most active. Therefore, it is currently incorrect to assess the demand for their products.
Experts explained the increase in the number of tenders by the requirements of regulators and the desire of businesses to ensure information security. Western sanctions also stimulate the interest of companies in software developed in the Russian Federation, they added.
