More than 100 meters in diameter: the world's largest fan designed in Sverdlovsk

The device's capacity is about 6 thousand cubic meters of air per second.

The Ural State Mining University (USMU) has created the world's largest fan for mines. Its diameter exceeds 100 meters. This was reported by the university's press service.

Instead of one engine, several power units will be used to operate the device. Each of them will be attached to its own blade. The fan's capacity is about 6 thousand cubic meters of air per second.

The rock massif will serve as the body of the structure. The fan wheel will be positioned horizontally on the base of special trolleys moving on a flat prepared surface.

The engineers proposed distributing the load between several engines. This solution makes it possible, in theory, to create a fan of any size.

The development is planned to be used at the maximum depth of the mines. The fan will force air into the lowest levels of the workings.

The completion of the project is targeted for 2025. The development has already attracted the attention of the largest mining enterprises in Russia and Belarus.
