"The Saga Continues": State Duma Approves Bill on Fines for Dangerous Driving

Daredevils may face fines or license suspension; the law has not yet been adopted

The State Duma Committee on State Construction and Legislation has recommended the adoption in the first reading of a bill on fines for dangerous driving. Experts still have questions about who will catch violators if the document is adopted. Here are the details.

The bill was submitted to the lower house of parliament by deputies from the LDPR. They want to introduce a new article in the Code of Administrative Offenses — "Dangerous Driving." The fine for such driving, according to the deputies' idea, will range from 3,000 rubles to 5,000 rubles. If the driver violates the rule again, it is proposed to deprive him of the right to drive for up to three months.

The State Duma Committee on State Construction and Legislation considered the sanctions for repeated violations to be insufficient. They suggested that deputies refine them for consideration of the document in the first reading.

Journalist Maxim Kadakov wonders whether the law will be strict for everyone or whether it will not affect the "rich Pinocchios."

The saga of introducing this fine continues. It is not very clear who will catch the violators. Will the law be equally strict for everyone – or will rich Pinocchios in top cars continue to terrorize the night avenues.

The journalist emphasizes that there are no plans to increase the staff in the traffic police. Perhaps, in the future, dangerous driving will be determined by cameras.
