Flies 2.5 Times Faster Than NATO Analogues: 9M96D - Lightning-Fast Missile of the Russian Armed Forces for the Redut Air Defense System

Reaches speeds of up to 2750 km/h

The Russian Armed Forces are armed with the highly maneuverable 9M96D anti-aircraft missile of the Redut shipborne air defense system, installed on Project 20380 corvettes. During exercises, it successfully intercepted a high-speed target simulating an anti-ship missile based on the well-known Kh-41 Moskit, as noted by military expert Evgeny Damantsev.

The interception of the Kh-41 Moskit was performed in a low-altitude flight mode at an echelon of about 25 - 30 m at a speed of about 2300 - 2750 km/h, which is 2.5 times faster than all known anti-ship missiles in service with the NATO Air Forces and Navy.
Evgeny Damantsev, military expert

Damantsev added that the Moskit is equipped with integrated ramjet engines with the ability to regulate the intensity of fuel supply to the combustion chamber. Also, Kh-41 missiles are capable of performing anti-aircraft maneuvers with overloads of 10 - 15 g.
