The nuclear icebreaker "Ural", built according to Project 22220 by USC shipbuilders, coped with the task in the East Siberian Sea perfectly. It led the bulk carrier Smoke and the large container ship NewNewStar through the ice, which became the largest vessel to pass through the Northern Sea Route.

For the first time, a container ship of this size has entered the Northern Sea Route: length - 231 meters, width - 32 meters. The length of the icebreaker escort route was 150 nautical miles, the average speed was 12 knots.
Universal nuclear icebreakers of Project 22220, which are being built at the Baltic Shipyard, are the largest and most powerful icebreaking vessels in the world. Their main task is to ensure year-round navigation in the Western Arctic region. In the coming years, vessels of this project will become the basis of Russia's civilian icebreaker fleet.
FSUE Atomflot (part of the Rosatom State Corporation) is the official customer of nuclear icebreakers of Project 22220. The nuclear-powered ships "Arktika", "Sibir" and "Ural" have already been handed over to the customer. The icebreakers "Yakutia" and "Chukotka" are at various stages of construction, and the last in this series, the nuclear-powered icebreaker "Leningrad", was laid down at the Baltic Shipyard in early 2024.
