Russia will update the fleet of strategic aviation aircraft of the Aerospace Forces. This was announced by the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Anton Alikhanov, during a visit to the "ODK-Kuznetsov" company.

Strategic aviation will be significantly updated, new types of engines and new aircraft, developed here in Samara, are already being created. They will be put on combat duty on the aircraft that will be supplied to our Armed Forces.
Anton Alikhanov, Head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade

Currently, the long-range aviation of Russia is armed with Tu-22M3 bombers, Tu-95MS strategic missile carriers, and Tu-160. They are a link in the nuclear triad and can deliver strikes with non-nuclear weapons.

Earlier, the foreign publication The National Interest noted that in the event of a conflict between NATO and Russia, the Tu-160 could become "Vladimir Putin's hammer". They can be used to launch missiles with nuclear warheads or to hit important targets.
