Storm Shadow Analogue: What is Known About the Russian Kh-69 Missile, Which is Not Inferior to Western Models

Expert Kornev spoke about the Russian analogue of the Storm Shadow missile

The Russian advanced Kh-69 air-launched cruise missile is not inferior in its qualities to the Western Storm Shadow. This opinion was expressed by missile weapons expert Dmitry Kornev.

According to him, this missile is designed to be placed in the internal compartments of any aircraft, but can also be suspended on an external suspension.

Stealth technologies are used in it, thanks to which the missile has a low radar signature. The Kh-69 flies exclusively along a complex route thanks to its satellite navigation system and terrain navigation system.

The missile is equipped with a modular warhead: these are cluster, high-explosive or high-explosive penetrating warheads. Kornev summarized that the Kh-69 is a unique weapon that even a Tu-22M bomber can use. At the same time, it will be able to carry a large number of such missiles on board.

The Kh-69 is designed to destroy ground stationary targets with coordinates known before launch, which do not have infrared, radar or optical contrast in relation to the surrounding background.

The maximum flight range is up to 290 km, depending on the configuration, the mass of the warhead is 300-310 kg, the cruising speed is 700-1,000 km/h.

Earlier, the foreign publication The National Interest noted that in the event of a conflict between NATO and Russia, the Tu-160 could become "Vladimir Putin's hammer". They can be used to launch missiles with nuclear warheads or to hit important targets.
