The National Payment Card System (NPCS) has introduced an updated version of the "SBPey" mobile application, which includes the ability to pay for purchases using biometrics. This feature is available to users who have previously registered their biometric data in the "Gosuslugi Biometriya" application.
To enable the new payment method, users need to go to the "Accounts" section in the "SBPey" application, click on the three dots in the upper right corner of the screen, and select the "Enable Biometrics" option. After confirming the connection, the application will automatically redirect the user to "Gosuslugi", where it is necessary to agree to the processing of biometric data.
After setting up payment via biometrics, users will be able to make purchases without using the "SBPey" application. To complete the transaction, it will be enough to look into the camera of a specialized terminal, after which the amount will be debited automatically.
This update is part of the project to launch bioacquiring — a platform of biometric services. In the coming days, the technology will be launched for the first time in the Kazan metro, where passengers will be able to pay for travel using the new method. In the future, it is planned to expand the use of technology to trade and service enterprises and increase the number of participating banks so that as many people as possible can use the new service.
