Company Representatives Failed to Reach an Agreement with Chenglong

AMO Auto Plant (formerly a Volvo plant) is in active negotiations with the Chinese company Sinotruck. They want to start assembling Sitrak and Howo trucks at the plant located in Kaluga. This information was shared with journalists by insiders, but without details.

Trucks of these brands are in demand in Russia. For example, in the first half of 2024, 10,341 Sitrak vehicles and 2,638 Howo trucks were sold.

As a reminder, the possibility of assembling Chinese equipment at the Russian AMO plant was mentioned in May by Li Feng, deputy head of the secretariat of the Union of Chinese Entrepreneurs in Russia. At that time, the official said that a dialogue was underway at the level of the governments of the two countries about localizing production in Russia. However, Feng did not name specific companies.

Earlier, according to insiders, AMO plant tried to negotiate with Chenglong, but the negotiations did not lead to any result.

As a reminder, the AMO enterprise is currently assembling Ural Next from imported vehicle kits. In total, 649 such trucks have rolled off the assembly line since the beginning of the year.
