Carriages Changed the Fleet: Demetra-Holding Bought Nefrit LLC

The company has expanded its transport fleet by 1.8 thousand gondola cars and hoppers

Demetra-Holding has acquired Nefrit LLC. More than 1.8 thousand innovative gondola cars and cement hopper cars have come under the buyer's control.

LLC "Freight Company" received 99% of the assets of Nefrit LLC. The remaining 1% was transferred to Rusagrotrans LLC. Both companies are part of Demetra-Holding.

The deal is driven by rising prices for new gondola cars and leasing terms. In the first half of 2024, standard gondola cars rose in price by 34%, innovative gondola cars — by 44%, and hoppers — by 27%.

According to Vladimir Savchuk, Deputy General Director of the Institute of Applied Economics and Management (IPEM), Demetra-Holding does not own a sufficient number of gondola cars. The acquisition of Nefrit's assets will allow meeting the needs of customers in the long term.

It is worth noting that Demetra-Holding is one of the largest Russian operators in the field of export logistics and grain trade. The main assets are located in the Krasnodar Territory, where deep-water transport terminals are located.

Earlier, www1.ru reported that in Russia there has been an increase in the production of freight cars.
