Evolution of the "Night Hunter": Mi-28N adapted for Chrysanthemum-VM tactical missiles

The range of the missiles is about 10 km

Modernized Mi-28NM "Night Hunter" reconnaissance and attack helicopters have undergone software and hardware adaptation for the use of new high-speed multi-purpose tactical missiles 9M123M "Chrysanthemum-VM". Military expert Evgeny Damantsev drew attention to this.

According to him, these missiles have not only a semi-automatic laser-beam, but also a radio command control system, including in difficult meteorological conditions when using the N025 over-the-rotor radar system. The range of the "Chrysanthemum-VM" has also increased from 6 to 10 km.

It is highly likely that the more advanced nose-mounted AESA radar "Cutter" of the Ka-52M attack helicopter, capable of operating in SAR mode with a resolution of less than 1 m, can provide 9M123M "Chrysanthemum-VM" missiles with much greater accuracy in hitting targets in difficult meteorological conditions, which remains to be seen in combat conditions.

The length of the 9M123 is 2.3 m, the mass in the transport and launch container is no more than 62 kg, the minimum firing range is 400 m, the maximum is at least 5 thousand meters.

The missile can accelerate to approximately 650 m/s, and the speed of its cumulative jet reaches about 10-11 km/s, which makes it possible to reliably hit a tank.
